P5AT – PV665DPK or PV661DPK for Ford Ranger & Everest ?
If you’re fitting a ProVent catch can to a Ford Ranger or Ford Everest with the P5AT 3.2L engine, one of the most common questions we get is:
“Do I need PV665DPK or PV661DPK?”
The good news is the difference is simple once you know what to look for. This guide will walk you through the selection process step by step and help you choose the correct kit the first time.
Step 1: Check Your Airbox Shape
The airbox shape is the first and most important check.
- Circular (round) factory airbox → you may be able to use PV665DPK
- Square factory airbox → PV665DPK will NOT fit, you must use PV661DPK
Some Ford Everest models are fitted with a square airbox, even within the same year range, which is why this step matters.

Step 2: Understand the Mounting Location
PV665DPK – Front Mount
PV665DPK mounts at the front of the engine bay, behind the driver-side headlight.
- Only suits vehicles with a circular (round) factory airbox
- Cleaner front-mounted installation
- May conflict with the power steering reservoir on some Ranger / Everest variants

If your vehicle has a round airbox and the front mounting area is clear, you can view the PV665DPK product page here:

PV661DPK – Rear Mount
PV661DPK mounts at the rear of the engine bay, near the factory fuel filter / fuse box.
- Suits both round and square airbox vehicles
- Avoids the front headlight / power steering reservoir area
- Most versatile and safest option if you are unsure

PV661DPK suits a wider range of vehicles including Ranger, Everest, and BT-50. You can view the PV661DPK product page here:

Quick Selection Summary
- P5AT + Round airbox + clear front mounting area → PV665DPK or PV661DPK
- Square airbox → PV661DPK only
- Power steering reservoir in front mount area → PV661DPK
- Unsure which airbox or mounting location you have → PV661DPK (recommended)
When in doubt, PV661DPK is the safer choice and will fit the widest range of Ranger and Everest models.
