What We Measure

Injection Quantity

Fuel delivery measured at multiple test points covering pilot, idle, part load and full load — compared directly against Denso specification for your injector code.

Pilot Delivery

The small pre-injection that controls cold-start rattle and idle quality. The first thing to drift on a worn 1KD injector, and the one a scan tool can't see directly.

Return Flow

Back-leakage measured under operating pressure. Excessive return flow means worn internals — the classic cause of hard starting and rail pressure faults.

Leak-Off & Response

Static leak testing and injector response behaviour. Identifies sticking, slow or leaking injectors that dilute your oil and wash cylinder bores.

Every result is recorded against the serial number and cylinder of the injector it came from, so you know exactly which cylinder has the problem.

How to Send Your Injectors
  1. Place your order first. Your order number is what links your injectors to your test results — nothing gets on the bench without one.
  2. Cap the ports. Fit caps or tape over the inlet, return and nozzle to keep dirt out. Contamination in transit can affect results.
  3. Label each injector with its cylinder number — cylinder 1 is closest to the front of the vehicle. A tag or marker on the body is fine, just don't cover the serial number. This lets your report call out exactly which cylinder has the problem.
  4. Wrap each injector individually and pack them in a sturdy box so they can't move around.
  5. Write your order number on the box and include a note inside with your email address and return shipping address.

Turnaround: Generally injectors are on the bench within 2–3 business days of arriving, and your report is emailed the same day testing is completed.

What Happens If They Fail?

If your injectors test outside spec, your report will say so plainly — which injector, which parameter, and by how much. From there:

  • Minor repairs — if it's something small and genuinely worth fixing, we'll tell you and quote it. But we won't rebuild worn-out injectors: once wear shows up across the test data, a patch-up is your money spent twice.
  • Replacement — for injectors that are done, we stock genuine Denso replacements, standard or modified upgraded, ready to ship. As a testing customer, we'll look after you on the new set.

Either way, you're never testing blind. The test fee buys you a straight answer — and if the answer is "they're done", you're already talking to the right people about a new set.


Why a Bench Test Beats a Scan Tool

Injector correction values from a scan tool show what the ECU is compensating for — not what the injector is actually delivering. Corrections can look acceptable while an injector is over-fuelling at full load, leaking at rest, or delivering a weak pilot shot.

The Sabre measures actual fuel delivery and return flow under controlled pressure and temperature, against the same specifications Denso tests to. It's the difference between a symptom and a diagnosis.


Service Terms
  • The testing fee is payable upfront and is non-refundable once testing is started, including where injectors test within spec or are found beyond economic repair.
  • Injectors that arrive seized, heavily contaminated or physically damaged may not be testable. We'll contact you before proceeding if that's the case.
  • Testing identifies injector condition at the time of test. It is not a warranty on used injectors.
  • Any repair work is quoted separately after testing. No work proceeds without your approval.
  • Injectors unclaimed for 60 days after we've attempted contact may be disposed of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to send all four injectors?

A: Yes - send the full set. Injector problems on the 1KD rarely respect cylinder boundaries: one obvious offender usually has a mate quietly on its way out, and comparing all four against each other is what turns raw numbers into an accurate diagnosis. One removal, one freight run, one report covering the whole engine.


Q: Should the injectors be cleaned before sending?

A: Wipe off the worst of the external oil and dirt, but don't touch the internals or the nozzle. Every injector gets a careful external clean and inspection here before it goes anywhere near the bench - the Sabre is a precision instrument, and ten years of engine bay grime has no place in your results.

Q: Can you test injectors bought elsewhere?

A: Yes. That's half the point. If you've bought "reconditioned" or "genuine" injectors somewhere else and want independent verification before fitting them, this is how you find out what you actually got.

Q: Will the report tell me if my injectors caused my problem?

A: The report tells you the measured condition of each injector against spec, and our recommendation. Combined with your symptoms, that answers the question in the vast majority of 1KD cases - worn injectors are the number one cause of cold-start rattle, rough idle and fuel dilution on this engine.

Q: How long does it take?

A: Testing is generally completed within 2–3 business days of your injectors arriving. Add express shipping each way.
