Frequently Asked Questions

Will this bolt straight onto my 2.2L Ranger/BT-50?
Yes. It’s a direct replacement for GT1749V units (commonly tag 787556) on Ford Ranger PX 2.2L P4AT and Mazda BT-50 2.2L models from 2012–2022. Always compare your OE tag and flange/line orientation before install.
Do I need a tune after installing?
No tune is strictly required for stock-like operation. For performance gains and safe EGTs under higher boost, a quality ECU calibration is recommended.
What boost should I run?
The unit supports up to 35 PSI. Safe boost depends on your fueling, intercooler, exhaust and monitoring. Many builds run lower boost with timing/fuel optimisation for reliable, cool power.
How do I prime the turbo on install?
Pre-fill the CHRA with clean oil, crank the engine with the injector/fuel disabled until oil pressure is confirmed, then start and idle. Check for leaks and allow proper warm-up and cool-down.
Is the wastegate actuator pre-set?
Actuator is set to factory spec for OE-style control. If you change boost targets, adjustments should be made by a competent tuner with a pressure rig and datalogging.
What else should I replace while I’m there?
Inspect/replace oil feed & return lines, gaskets, studs/nuts, air filter, and check intercooler/charge pipes for oiling. Ensure DPF/EGT systems are healthy on factory emissions vehicles.
