★ 1GD Gated Turbo Upgrade ★
More airflow, harder boost, and rock-solid wastegate control for tuned 1GD builds chasing up to 245 RWHP.
Toyota Hilux N80 (GUN126) • Fortuner (GUN156) - 2015-2020 pre-IART 1GD-FTV 2.8L.

The Flex 46mm gated turbo is a bolt-on performance upgrade for Toyota's 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel fitted to the Hilux N80 (2015-2020) and Fortuner (2015-2020). Built around a 46mm 6/12 blade billet compressor wheel with a proven internal wastegate, it delivers significantly more airflow than the factory CT16V while mounting to your factory exhaust manifold and dump pipe. No VNT electronics to fight: simple, reliable gated boost control that holds boost hard under load.

📈 Power & Boost Potential
  • Supports up to 245 RWHP on the 1GD-FTV with supporting mods and appropriate tuning
  • Boost capability up to ~35 psi with the correct tune and fuel system
  • Recommended daily / tow target: 26-30 psi on a properly supported build
  • Strong mid-range and top-end gains over the factory CT16V, ideal for towing and highway work

Power figures depend on tune, fuel system, injectors, supporting mods, and vehicle condition. A quality tune from a reputable diesel tuner is required to reach these numbers safely.

⚙️ Key Highlights
  • Direct bolt-on fitment - suits the factory exhaust manifold and dump pipe, no fabrication required
  • 46mm 6/12 blade billet compressor wheel - big airflow gains over the stock CT16V cast wheel
  • Internal wastegate - simple, proven gated boost control with no VNT vanes to stick or foul
  • Genuine Thai-built Flex Pro Series - the same factory behind our proven 1KD Flex range
  • Supports up to ~35 psi boost with correct tuning and fuel system
  • Requires an independent boost source - see installation notes below

✅ Bolt-on fitment to the factory exhaust manifold and dump pipe. Oil and coolant line routing differs slightly from OEM, and the EGR cooler may need to be removed.

📦 What's Included
  • Flex Pro Series 46mm billet gated turbocharger - fully assembled and balanced
  • Oil feed line fitting
  • Basic gasket set for install

Oil and coolant line routing differs slightly from OEM. Check clearances and routing during install, and confirm the EGR cooler situation on your build before fitting.

🛠️ Installation & Tuning
  • Boost control: as a gated turbo replacing the factory VNT, this requires an independent boost source for boost control. Talk to your tuner about the right setup for your build.
  • EGR: the EGR cooler may need to be removed for fitment, and an EGR delete may be required. Confirm compliance requirements for your state before purchase.
  • Install: fitment by a qualified diesel mechanic is recommended. Correct torque specs, oil pre-lube, and a clean oil supply are critical for turbo longevity.
  • Tune: an ECU remap from a reputable diesel tuner is required to take advantage of the extra airflow, manage EGTs, and keep fuelling safe.

💡 Recommended Supporting Mods

To get the most from the 46mm gated turbo and push toward 245 RWHP, pair it with:

  • 1GD +30 injectors / MCR nozzles - clean fuelling at higher power levels without smoke
  • Front-mount or upgraded intercooler - keeps intake temps in check at higher boost
  • 3" turbo-back exhaust - drops backpressure and frees up boost response
  • High-flow airbox / intake - removes the factory intake restriction
  • Remap from a reputable tuner - non-negotiable for full performance

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this a direct bolt-on turbo for my 1GD Hilux or Fortuner?

A: Yes. It mounts to the factory exhaust manifold and dump pipe on pre-IART 1GD Hilux N80 and Fortuner models with no fabrication. Note that the oil and coolant line routing differs slightly from OEM, the EGR cooler may need to be removed, and it requires an independent boost source for boost control.

Q: How much power will a 46mm turbo make on a 1GD?

A: With supporting mods and a quality tune, this turbo supports up to around 245 RWHP. Actual results depend on your tuner, fuel system, injectors, and vehicle condition.

Q: Do I need a tune after installing?

A: Yes. A proper ECU calibration from a reputable diesel tuner is required to take advantage of the extra airflow, manage EGTs, and keep fuelling safe.

Q: How does boost control work with a gated turbo on the 1GD?

A: The factory 1GD turbo is a VNT controlled by the ECU. This gated turbo uses an internal wastegate instead, so it needs an independent boost source. Your tuner can set up the right boost control solution for your build.

Q: How much boost can it safely run?

A: Built to support up to around 35 psi in suitable setups. A daily or tow target of 26-30 psi is a sensible ceiling on a properly supported build. Safe boost depends on your tune, fuel system, and engine health.

Q: Will it work with stock injectors?

A: Yes, it can run with stock injectors on a mild tune. For higher power goals, upgraded 1GD +30 injectors and supporting mods are recommended. Always consult your tuner.

Q: Will it fit my 2021 or newer Hilux?

A: This turbo suits pre-IART 1GD models (approx. 2015-2020). If you're unsure of your vehicle's IART status, text your VIN to 0483 930 906 and we'll confirm before you order.
