The head gasket is the fuse of a tuned 1KD. This ARP2000 head stud kit lifts clamping load 8.4 to 19% over the factory 10.9 grade bolts, spreads torque more evenly across the head, and drops straight in with no machining of the block or head.

Why ARP2000 Over Factory Bolts?
- Heavily alloyed martensitic steel, quench hardened and tempered - stud yield strength 11,590 kg
- 8.4 to 19% more clamping load at around 85% of stud yield strength
- Clamping load at 170 Nm (75% of yield): 8,636 kg
- More even, accurate torque distribution than torque-to-yield bolts
- Reusable if within spec - factory bolts are single use

Q: Do I need to machine anything?
A: No. The studs use the factory head bolt holes in both the block and head.
Q: What torque do I run?
A: Follow the ARP instructions supplied with the kit using the included Ultra-Torque lube. The 170 Nm figure above corresponds to 75% of stud yield.
Q: When should I fit studs?
A: Any time the head is off a tuned 1KD. If you're doing a head gasket on a remapped engine, fitting bolts again is a wasted opportunity.
