HPD 1KD Billet Oil Cap

CNC Billet 6061-T6 | Hard Anodised | Toyota 1KD-FTV 3.0L | Front-Mount Intercooler Setups

HPD Special Parts CNC Billet 6061-T6 O-Ring Included Afterpay, Humm, Klarna, Zip Free Express Shipping AU

The factory 1KD oil filler cap is plastic, and after a decade of heat cycles it goes brittle and faded. This HPD billet cap is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 alloy, hard anodised, HPD engraved, and it screws onto the standard filler neck with the supplied O-ring. It is a dress-up part. It looks better and it lasts better, and that is the whole story. Read the intercooler note below before you order.

What It Does
  • Replaces the factory plastic oil filler cap. Uses the OEM seal interface, no modifications.
  • CNC-machined billet 6061-T6 aluminium with HPD engraving. Made by HPD Special Part Racing Shop in Thailand.
  • Hard anodised in multiple colours. Blue, red, gold, black, purple, silver and others, depending on the batch.
  • Comes with a fresh O-ring. Fit it if your factory seal is worn, cracked or hardened.
  • Will not crack or fade like the plastic one. Anodising is grown into the metal, so it survives underbonnet heat and UV far better than paint or powder coat.

Fitment
  • Toyota Hilux KUN16 and KUN26. 1KD-FTV, 2005 to 2015, all variants. Front-mount intercooler setups only.
  • Toyota Prado 120 Series. 1KD-FTV 3.0L, 2003 to 2009. Front-mount intercooler setups only.
  • Toyota Prado 150 Series. 1KD-FTV 3.0L, 2009 to 2015. Front-mount intercooler setups only.
  • Toyota Hiace 200 Series. 1KD-FTV 3.0L turbo diesel, 2005 on.
  • Toyota Tonero forklifts. 8FD35F and 8FD40F, 1KD-FTV.

It does not clear the factory top-mount intercooler shroud. The cap itself fits any 1KD-FTV filler neck, but the plastic shroud over the factory top-mount intercooler sits right where the cap needs room. If you are running the standard top mount with the shroud fitted, this cap will not go on. It suits a front-mount intercooler setup, or a top mount with the shroud removed. Check what is over your rocker cover before you order.

This is the 1KD cap, not the 1GD or 2KD cap. The 2KD 2.5L and the 1GD 2.8L use a different oil cap thread and design. Verify your engine code before you order. The 1KD-FTV code is on the engine code plate, usually on the driver's side of the block, or in your owner's manual. If you are not sure, send us your VIN and we will confirm it.

Which HPD Oil Cap Do I Need

Note that some N80 Hilux built from 2015 also run the 1KD-FTV depending on the market they were sold into. The badge on the ute does not settle it. The engine code does.

Specifications
  • Material: CNC-machined billet 6061-T6 aluminium alloy.
  • Finish: hard anodised, multiple colour options.
  • Application: Toyota 1KD-FTV 3.0L turbo diesel oil filler cap.
  • Seal type: O-ring, included.
  • Installation: hand-tighten, no tools required.
  • Origin: HPD Special Parts, Thailand.

What Is Included
  • 1 x HPD billet oil cap. 1KD-FTV, in your choice of anodised colour.
  • 1 x replacement O-ring seal.

Fitting Notes
  • Five minutes, no tools. Easiest job on the truck.
  • Let the engine cool completely first. Then turn the factory plastic cap counter-clockwise and take it off.
  • Inspect the seal. If your OEM O-ring is worn, cracked or deformed, use the supplied replacement. Most people just fit the fresh one.
  • Wipe a little clean engine oil on the O-ring. It seats smoothly instead of binding.
  • Fit the HPD cap by hand, clockwise. Snug until you feel the O-ring compress, then stop.
  • Check it sits flush. Hand-tight is enough to seal. Tools and over-tightening damage the O-ring and cause leaks.

Never remove the oil cap while the engine is hot or running. Hot oil vapour burns, and pulling the cap on a running engine upsets crankcase ventilation. Let it cool right down.

Pair It With

The cap works with the factory rocker cover and with aftermarket billet rocker covers, including the HPD 1KD alloy cover and our own CRC 1KD billet cover. The filler mounting point is the same across all of them.

Read This Before You Order

This is an appearance and durability upgrade, not a performance modification. It will not add power and it will not change how the engine runs.

Confirm your engine is a 1KD-FTV, and confirm you are not trying to fit it under a factory top-mount intercooler shroud. Those are the two reasons this cap comes back.

Anodised colours vary slightly between production batches. That is how anodising works: alloy composition, bath conditions and dye concentration all move the shade a little. Colours also photograph differently to how they look in daylight. If you need a specific colour, or you are matching an existing HPD part, ask us for a photo before you order. Returns need to be unused and in original packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will it fit my top-mount intercooler Hilux?

A: Not with the factory plastic shroud fitted. It suits front-mount intercooler setups, or a top mount with the shroud removed.

Q: Will this fit all 1KD engines?

A: The cap suits any Toyota 1KD-FTV 3.0L filler neck, whatever it is bolted into: Hilux, Prado, Hiace, even the Tonero forklifts. Clearance is the only variable, see the intercooler note.

Q: How do I know if I have a 1KD-FTV?

A: Check the engine code plate, usually on the driver's side of the block, or your owner's manual. The 1KD-FTV is the 3.0L turbo diesel in the Hilux KUN series, Prado 120 and 150 and Hiace 200. Send us your VIN if you are unsure.

Q: Will this fit my 2KD or 1GD?

A: No. The 2KD 2.5L and the 1GD 2.8L use different oil cap threads and designs. For a 1GD, use the N80 cap linked above.

Q: Does it work with aftermarket rocker covers?

A: Yes. Factory covers, the HPD 1KD alloy rocker cover and the CRC 1KD billet rocker cover all use the same filler point.

Q: Do I have to use the supplied O-ring?

A: Only if your factory seal is past it. Inspect it first. If there is any doubt, fit the new one, it is cheap insurance against an oil leak. Replacement O-rings are available from Toyota or aftermarket suppliers later on.

Q: Will it leak?

A: Not if the O-ring is good and the cap is hand-tightened properly. It seals on the same OEM interface as the factory cap.

Q: Will the anodised colour fade?

A: Hard anodising is durable, but years of heat and UV can soften the shade slightly. It holds up far longer than paint or powder coat. Minor change over time is normal for anodised parts in an engine bay.

Q: Will it rust or corrode?

A: Aluminium does not rust, that is a steel problem, and the hard anodised layer handles corrosion well.

Q: What is 6061-T6?

A: An aluminium alloy used widely in aerospace and automotive work. Good strength for its weight, good corrosion resistance, machines cleanly. The T6 means it has been heat-treated for strength.

Q: Does this improve performance?

A: No. It looks better and lasts longer than plastic. That is it.
