The early 4JJ1 clutch gives up as soon as a tune goes in. NPC's Heavy Duty organic kit replaces it with a premium OE-quality cover and disc with the clamp lifted 20 to 40% over factory, on a dedicated NPC billet steel flywheel. NPC's maximum measured figure on the dyno is 300 rwhp and 700Nm at the wheels, with smooth engagement and, in most cases, no extra pedal effort. Built for the tuned, towing or turbo-upgraded RC, RA7 and early D-MAX.

Braided Clutch Line
The Colorado and D-MAX have a hydraulic accumulator in the clutch line. Bypassing it with the NPC braided line removes fluid dampening for a more direct pedal and sharper engagement. Optional extra; message us to add one.
NPC note: removing the accumulator can introduce a slight pedal pulsation that the factory part normally damps. That is not a warranty item.
Fitting and Bed-In
- Fit to NPC's standard. NPC publish two sheets for this driveline: Fitting Sheet 10, pull-type fork orientation (PDF) and Notice Sheet 5, D-MAX and Colorado slave cylinder tech note (PDF). Read both before you start.
- Before fitting, trial the disc on the gearbox spline and check cover and release bearing height.
- The supplied billet flywheel comes machined and ready to fit. Fit the kit as a set.
- Inspect the fork, pivot, slave cylinder and rear main seal while the gearbox is out.
- Bed in for 1,000 km of normal driving. It is the gear changes that bed it in. No burnouts, flat changes or towing until then.
What to Expect
- Pedal: close to factory. NPC build the Heavy Duty organic so the extra clamp comes with little or no extra pedal effort in most cases. Smoother than any ceramic or button kit.
- Rated capacity assumes a healthy drivetrain, correct fitment and a sensible tune.
- Some setups show light gear rattle at idle with a single mass billet flywheel. Normal.
- NPC warranty excludes shudder, slip, pedal feel and harsh engagement on vehicles outside original specification, which includes tuned builds. Fit it properly and bed it in and you will not need it.
