FM601DPK | Isuzu D-Max 4JJ1TCX 2012 to 2020 | MU-X 4JJ1TCX 2017 to 2020
Water and grit kill 4JJ1 injectors. The Fuel Manager puts a proper water separating pre-filter ahead of the factory filter, so the bulk of the rubbish is caught in a clear bowl where you can see it and drain it.
Vehicle-specific bracket, lines and fittings for the 4JJ1TCX D-Max and MU-X. Bolt it in, drain the bowl, keep driving.
What Is Included
- Direction Plus Fuel Manager pre-filter assembly with clear drainage bowl and drain
- Vehicle-specific mounting bracket
- Fuel lines and fittings
- Mounting hardware (bolts, washers, nuts)
- Installation guide
Note: Replacement pre-filter element is Direction Plus 31863 (30 micron).
How It Works
The Fuel Manager mounts between the tank and your factory filter. It pulls the bulk of the water and grit out of the fuel first, so the factory filter only has to do the fine work. Two stages of filtration, and the factory filter lasts longer. Common rail injectors operate at 2,000+ bar with tolerances measured in microns, so even microscopic contamination does damage.
- Up to 95% water separation with superior particle removal
- Separates emulsified water in ULSD fuels
- Clear drainage bowl: see what it has caught and drain it in seconds
- No filter bypass: contaminated fuel is not sent on to the injectors, even if the element blocks
- Extends factory filter life and keeps the pump, rail and injectors cleaner
- Vehicle-specific bracket and hardware, no cutting or fabrication required
- Replaceable 30 micron element (Direction Plus 31863)
Vehicle Fitment
- Isuzu D-Max 4JJ1TCX (3.0L 4cyl): 2012 to 2020 (suits single battery only)
- Isuzu MU-X 4JJ1TCX (3.0L 4cyl): 2017 to 2020
Not for 4JJ3, and check your engine code. 2020 on D-Max and MU-X with the 4JJ3TCX engine use the FM645DPK kit. The 4JJ1-TC D-Max (2012 to 2017, dual battery) and 4JJ1-TC MU-X (2013 to 2017) use FM631DPK. This kit is for the 4JJ1TCX only.
Fitment per Direction Plus as of October 2026. Check the fitment guide or send us your VIN if unsure.
Fitting Notes
- Mounts in the engine bay on the supplied vehicle-specific bracket.
- Installed in the fuel line between the tank and the factory filter.
- All fuel lines and fittings are included. No cutting or fabrication required.
- A competent DIYer with fuel system experience can fit it. If that is not you, have a workshop do it.
Servicing
- Check the clear bowl before long trips and after filling up somewhere unfamiliar.
- Drain any water as soon as you see it. Water sits at the bottom of the bowl, open the drain until clean diesel runs.
- Replace the element (Direction Plus 31863) at the interval in the Direction Plus guide, sooner if you run farm or drum fuel.
- Check the fuel lines at each service.
Shipping and Payment
- Free express shipping Australia-wide.
- Tracking sent as soon as it is on its way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this fit the 2020 on D-Max with the 4JJ3 engine?
A: No. FM601DPK is for the 4JJ1TCX D-Max (2012 to 2020) and MU-X (2017 to 2020). The 4JJ3TCX D-Max, MU-X and BT-50 use the FM645DPK kit.
Q: Will it fit with a dual battery?
A: Direction Plus lists FM601DPK on the D-Max as suits single battery only. Dual battery 4JJ1-TC D-Max (2012 to 2017) use FM631DPK.
Q: Can I run a catch can as well?
A: Yes. Plenty of D-Max owners run a Fuel Manager and a ProVent catch can together. One protects the fuel system, the other protects the intake.
Q: Why do I need a pre-filter if I already have a factory filter?
A: The factory filter is built for fine filtration, not bulk water and dirt. The Fuel Manager takes the bulk out first, so the factory filter lasts longer and the injectors see cleaner fuel.
Q: What does no bypass mean?
A: Plenty of filters have a bypass valve that opens when the element blocks and lets unfiltered fuel through. The Fuel Manager has none. Everything passes through the element, so keep it serviced.
Q: How often do I drain the bowl?
A: Check it before long trips and after filling up somewhere you do not trust. You might go months without seeing water in town and see it straight away after a bad servo.
Q: Does it reduce fuel flow or pressure?
A: It is a high-flow unit. Fitted and serviced correctly there is no performance impact.
Q: Can I fit it myself?
A: Yes, if you are comfortable working on fuel systems. The bracket is vehicle specific and the lines are supplied. If you are not confident, have a workshop fit it.
Q: What is the difference between a pre-filter and a post-filter?
A: A pre-filter sits before the factory filter and handles bulk water and contamination. A post-filter sits after the factory filter for finer final filtration. Plenty of owners run both.
Clean Fuel. Happy Injectors.
