• J-bolts are not included in most batches. Reuse your OEM hardware or source equivalents. Check what you have before you pull the old clamp off.

• Basic hand tools. Old clamp off, new bar on, J-bolts back through the tray.
• Snug the J-bolts evenly. Enough that the battery cannot move. Cranking them down bends trays and cracks battery cases.
• Check clearance to the bonnet and to any battery terminal covers before you call it done.

Read this bit, it saves returns. HPD have shipped this clamp in more than one version. Depending on which version arrives, you may need a minor modification, and in some cases drilling, to line the bar up with your tray and J-bolts. Most go straight on. Budget ten minutes and a drill just in case, and if yours does not line up, send us a photo before you start cutting and we will sort it out.

This is a dress-up and durability part. It holds the battery down and it looks better than the factory clamp. It does not add power, it does not improve charging, and it will not fix a battery that moves because the tray is rusted or the J-bolts are stretched.

Check your battery tray size and J-bolt layout first, especially if you are running an oversized or relocated battery. If you are unsure, send your rego or VIN and we will confirm fitment before you spend anything.

Q: Does this fit all N70 1KD models?

A: It suits 2005 to 2015 N70 Hilux models with the 1KD-FTV engine running the factory battery tray and J-bolt layout.

Q: Does it include bolts?

A: Most batches do not include J-bolts. Reuse your OEM hardware or source equivalents.

Q: Will it go straight on?

A: Usually. There is more than one version of this clamp in circulation, and depending on which one you receive it may need a minor modification or some drilling to line up. Photos to us first if yours does not sit right.

Q: Is this a performance upgrade?

A: No. It is a cosmetic and durability upgrade for the battery hold-down.

Q: Will it improve vibration control?

A: It gives a stronger and more secure hold than the factory clamp, which matters on corrugations. It is not a suspension part and it will not stop a battery that is loose for other reasons.

Q: Will it fit my N80?

A: No. Use the N80 Hilux and Fortuner clamp.
