What’s in the Box
- 10 × M8 studs (135.7 mm), washers & nuts
- 12 × M10 studs (184 mm), washers & nuts
- 1 × ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant
- Installation instructions (below)
(ARP brand — Made in USA)
Installation Instructions
- Fit the head gasket dry to the block over locating dowels — do not use sealant.
- Fit two cut-head bolts as guides, then carefully lower the cylinder head into position.
- Remove guide bolts and lubricate the block-end threads of each stud with ARP Ultra-Torque lube.
- Screw studs finger-tight only into the block until seated. Do not torque them.
- Install washers — bottom face dry, top face with a light smear of Ultra-Torque lube.
- Lubricate the top stud threads and underside of each nut with Ultra-Torque.
- Fit nuts finger-tight. If a nut does not engage fully, back the stud out slightly.
- Torque all nuts in four stages following the OEM tightening sequence:
- Stage 1 – tighten all M8 and M10 nuts to 20 N·m (15 ft-lb)
- Stage 2 – tighten all to 44 N·m (32 ft-lb)
- Stage 3 – tighten M10 nuts 1–12 to 75 N·m (55 ft-lb)
- Stage 4 – tighten M10 nuts 1–12 to 95 N·m (70 ft-lb)
✅ Final torque: M8 @ 44 N·m (~10 % over OEM) & M10 @ 95 N·m (~23 % over OEM).
Optional max tension if required for sealing: M8 @ 48 N·m (18 %) / M10 @ 102 N·m (32 %).
If possible, hone cylinders using a torque plate tensioned to your final settings for best results.
- Option 1: Fit M8 studs with no washers.
- Option 2: Use hardened washers no thicker than 1.9 mm — allows camshaft lobe clearance.
- Option 3: Use the supplied 3 mm ARP washers — the cylinder head must be counterbored to recess these washers for camshaft clearance.
⚙️ Failing to provide proper clearance may cause camshaft interference — always verify clearance before torquing.
Why ARP2000 vs OEM Bolts
- Higher clamp load prevents head lift under boost or towing loads.
- More consistent torque through reduced bolt twist and friction.
- Re-usable design vs single-use torque-to-yield bolts.
Install Notes & Disclaimers
- Professional installation strongly recommended.
- Replace the head gasket and any single-use seals or dowels.
- Retune engine if required after major top-end work.
- For off-road / motorsport use where required by law.
