A failed 1KD turbo actuator can cause a range of drivability issues and fault codes, including P1251, P0046 and P0047, often resulting in limp mode, poor boost control or inconsistent power delivery.
This Prado 1KD Turbo Actuator is a reliable aftermarket replacement designed to restore correct VNT operation on Prado 120 and 150 Series 1KD-FTV models. It offers an excellent balance of quality, reliability and value compared to replacing the complete turbo assembly.
Each unit is individually inspected and quality-checked before dispatch to ensure consistent operation and dependable performance out of the box.
✅ Factory VNT compatible: Designed to suit factory style VNT turbochargers fitted to 1KD-FTV engines. Always confirm your turbo part number before ordering.
This actuator suits turbos with the following OEM part numbers:
⚠️ Check before ordering: Locate your turbo part number and confirm it matches one of the above before purchasing.
⚠️ Professional diagnosis recommended: Confirm actuator failure before replacement to avoid unnecessary repairs.
Actuator calibration may be required during installation:
Important notes:
While you're in there — add the Turbo Gasket & Stud Nut Kit:
Replace worn studs, nuts and gaskets at the same time. Saves pulling the turbo again later.
🛒 Add Turbo Gasket & Stud Nut KitWant more power while you're at it? — Flex 44mm VNT Turbo Upgrade:
Same fitment, serious upgrade. The Flex 44mm VNT is a direct drop-in that transforms throttle response and top-end pull — no fabrication, no tuning required (recommended).
⚡ Add Flex 44mm VNT Turbo UpgradeP1251 is the classic symptom of a dying actuator on the 1KD. The ECU is trying to control boost via the VNT mechanism and getting no response — or an erratic one. Replacing the actuator resolves this in the vast majority of cases. That said, it's worth having the code confirmed as actuator-related with a scan tool before ordering, as sticky VNT vanes or a wiring fault can produce the same code.
Yes — it suits both the 120 Series (2003–2009) and 150 Series (2009–2015) running the 1KD-FTV engine. The key check is your turbo part number, not the series. Match your turbo PN against the list above and you're good to go.
Yes — brand new aftermarket unit. Every one is individually inspected and tested before it leaves us. We don't just box them up and send them out.
No. It's a direct mechanical replacement — the ECU doesn't care that you've swapped it. Just clear the fault codes after installation, run the calibration procedure (key on/off cycle) and you're done. No dyno visit required.
A proven, cost-effective solution for 1KD actuator failure. Individually QC tested. Fixes P1251, P0046, P0047 fault codes.
