831157 / 889938 Turbos SU-001 / G-85 Electronic VNT Garrett Cross-Referenced Express AU Shipping

The electronic VNT actuator for the Garrett GTD1449VZ / GTD1449VZK turbo fitted to the 2.2L P4AT DuraTorq in the Ford Ranger PX2 and PX3 and Ford Everest UA. This is the later 2.2L turbo family Ford moved to in mid-2015, and it takes a different actuator to the earlier PX1 unit.

Symptoms are the usual story: limp mode, under-boost or over-boost with the turbo itself mechanically sound. No shaft play, no oil leak, no whine, just a boost control or actuator fault code. Replacing the stepper motor on its own saves you the cost of a whole turbo.

Identify by turbo part number, not by year. The Ranger 2.2L changed turbo families in 06/2015. If your turbo ID plate reads 787556 or 854800 you have the earlier GTB1749V unit and need the G-88 actuator instead.
Vehicle Fitment Guide
Vehicle Engine Build
Ford Ranger PX2 P4AT 2.2L 06/2015 to 08/2018
Ford Ranger PX3 P4AT 2.2L 08/2018 to 2022
Ford Everest UA / UA II P4AT 2.2L 2015 to 2022

Mazda BT-50 UR 2.2L owners: most Australian-delivered BT-50 2.2L vehicles, both UP and UR, kept the earlier GTB1749V turbo through to 2020 and take the G-88 actuator. Check your turbo ID plate before ordering either one.

This actuator does not suit Ranger PX1, and does not suit any 3.2L P5AT application.

Years are a guide only. Confirm against the turbo part number before ordering.

Wrong Actuator? Find the Right One

These four actuators look similar and are not interchangeable. Match your turbo number to the right listing:

  • 831157 / 889938 (2.2L PX2, PX3, Everest) is this listing
  • 787556 / 854800 (2.2L PX1, BT-50 UP and UR) needs the G-88 actuator
  • 798166 / 812971 / 853333 (3.2L PX1, BT-50 UP) needs the G-74 actuator
  • 822182 / 889939 (3.2L PX2, PX3, Everest, BT-50 UR) needs the SU-008 actuator

Not sure? Send us your turbo ID plate number or your rego and state and we will confirm it for you.

Installation and Calibration Notes
  • Electronic actuators may require calibration after installation. Have a scan tool and the correct procedure ready before you start.
  • Skipping calibration can leave the vehicle in limp mode or throw boost control faults even with a good actuator fitted.
  • Set the linkage to the same effective length as the unit coming off before final tightening.
  • Always confirm the turbo ID before ordering. Fitting an actuator calibrated for a different turbo can cause over-boost or under-boost.
  • Professional installation is recommended.
