Square EGR Cooler | CNC Anodised Alloy | D-MAX, MU-X and BT-50

HPD Special Parts CNC Anodised Alloy Square Cooler Flange Afterpay, Humm, Klarna, Zip Free Express Shipping AU

These HPD plates suit the square-type EGR cooler used on the DPF-equipped 4JJ1-TCX from late 2016. They replace the factory EGR cooler path so hot exhaust gas stops re-entering the intake, which keeps the manifold clean and helps hold intake temperatures down when the truck is working.

What It Does
  • Blocks the EGR cooler path. No hot exhaust gas back into the intake charge.
  • Reduces soot and intake contamination. The intake stays cleaner for longer.
  • Helps lower intake temperatures under load. Useful on a truck that tows.
  • CNC-machined anodised alloy. Corrosion-resistant and cut to seal on the square flange.

Fitment
  • Isuzu D-MAX. 4JJ1-TCX with DPF, late 2016 to 2020.
  • Isuzu MU-X. 4JJ1-TCX with DPF, late 2016 to 2020.
  • Mazda BT-50. 4JJ3 with DPF, 2020 on, square EGR cooler only.

How to tell you have the DPF 4JJ1-TCX: build date late 2016 to 2020, a diesel particulate filter in the exhaust, the 4JJ1-TCX engine code, and a square-type EGR cooler rather than the earlier round or offset style.

Square cooler flange only. Suits DPF-equipped models running the factory front-mount intercooler and the square-type EGR cooler. Confirm the flange shape against the listing photos before ordering, and check it again if you are running an aftermarket manifold. Send us a photo if you want it confirmed.

Which EGR Plate Do I Need

What Is Included
  • HPD 4JJ1-TCX EGR cooler block-off plates. CNC-machined and anodised.
  • Mounting hardware where applicable.

Fitting Notes
  • Difficulty: moderate. Requires EGR system removal and an ECU change.
  • Time: allow 1 to 2 hours.
  • Order of work: disconnect the battery, remove the EGR cooler assembly, clean the sealing faces, fit the plates with the supplied hardware, torque to OEM specification, then disable the EGR in the ECU.
  • If you remove the cooler, cap the coolant lines. Our HPD billet 17mm coolant blanking plugs are made for capping them off, sold as a pair.

The ECU EGR disable is mandatory. Either a professional calibration or a plug-in EGR delete loom. Skip it and the ECU will log EGR faults and put a light on the dash.

Shipping and Payment
  • Free express shipping Australia-wide.
  • Dispatch: orders placed before 2 PM AEST on a business day go out the same day.
  • Buy now, pay later: Afterpay, Humm, Klarna and Zip.

Read This Before You Order

This is emissions hardware. Removing it is for off-road and motorsport use, and it is generally not legal on a road-registered vehicle in Australia. Check your state's requirements before you buy.

These plates block the EGR only. They do nothing to the DPF, but with the EGR blocked the DPF can regenerate differently, which is something the tune needs to account for. Use a tuner who knows the platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this fit my late 2016 D-MAX?

A: Yes, if it is a 4JJ1-TCX with the DPF and the square EGR cooler. Match the flange to the photos before ordering.

Q: What is the difference between the Pre-DPF and DPF plates?

A: Pre-DPF plates suit 2014 to 2016 models with no DPF. These suit late 2016 to 2020 models with the DPF. The flanges are different, so the plates are not interchangeable.

Q: I have a 2021 BT-50. Which one do I need?

A: It depends on the cooler, not the badge. A BT-50 with the square EGR cooler takes these plates. A BT-50 4JJ3 without the square cooler takes the 4JJ3 plates linked above. Send us a photo of the cooler if you are unsure, because this is the one people get wrong.

Q: Do I need a tune?

A: Yes. An ECU calibration to disable the EGR strategy, or a suitable plug-in loom. Otherwise you get fault codes and a check engine light.

Q: What are they made from?

A: CNC-machined anodised alloy, for corrosion resistance and a finish that lasts in an engine bay.

Q: Will this add power?

A: Not on its own. The gain is a cleaner intake charge, less soot and lower intake temperatures, which keeps performance consistent on a tuned or towing build.
