Will this actuator fit a Ranger PX2 or PX3 3.2L?

No. The G-74 actuator suits the Garrett GTB2256VK and GTB2260VZK turbo family used on the Ranger PX1 and BT-50 UP 3.2L. The PX2, PX3, Everest and BT-50 UR run the later GTD2056V turbo (822182 or 889939) and need the SU-008 actuator instead.

How do I know if my turbo takes the G-74 actuator?

Check the ID plate on the turbo. If it reads 798166, 812971 or 853333 in any of their suffix variations, this is the correct actuator. Model year alone is not reliable because Ford and Mazda ran overlapping turbo families across these platforms.

Does the turbo actuator need to be calibrated after fitting?

It may. Electronic VNT actuators often require a calibration or relearn procedure with a scan tool after installation. Without it the vehicle can stay in limp mode or throw boost control fault codes even with a good actuator fitted.

Can I replace just the actuator instead of the whole turbo?

Yes, if the turbo itself is mechanically sound. If there is no shaft play, no oil leak and no whine, but the vehicle is in limp mode with an actuator or boost control fault code, replacing the stepper motor on its own is the usual repair.

Will this suit a Ford Everest 3.2L?

No. The Ford Everest was introduced in 2015 with the GTD2056V turbo family and was never fitted with the turbo this actuator suits. Everest 3.2L owners need the SU-008 actuator.

Sold on its own, so if the turbo itself is healthy and the stepper motor has failed, you are not paying for a whole turbo to fix a $300 part.

Stepper motor failure on these is common and usually shows up as limp mode, under-boost or over-boost with no mechanical symptom from the turbo at all: no shaft play, no oil, no whine. If the turbo spins clean and the scan tool is throwing an actuator or boost control fault, this is the part.
