1KD VNT Simulator Module

Run a Wastegated Turbo on a 1KD-FTV Without Limp Mode | Hilux N70, Prado 120

Mr Module, Made in Australia Plug and Play No Codes, No Limp Mode Suits PKS, F44, F46, F55, R77 Tune Required Afterpay, Humm, Klarna, Zip Free Express Shipping AU

Fit a wastegated turbo to a 1KD and unplug the factory VNT actuator, and the ECU throws a code and drops into limp mode. This Mr Module VNT simulator plugs into the actuator harness and feeds the ECU the position signal it expects, so the engine runs clean with the stepper motor and driver gone. Plug in, cable tie it out of the way, done.

When You Need One

Any 1KD build that replaces the factory CT16V with a wastegated turbo and removes the VNT actuator:

Keeping a VNT turbo? You do not need this. The 47mm VNT Stage 2 runs on the factory actuator.

What It Does
  • Replaces the VNT stepper motor and driver signal so the ECU sees a valid actuator at all times.
  • No fault codes, no limp mode, no dash lights from the deleted actuator.
  • Plug and play on the factory connector. No cutting, no soldering, no rewiring.
  • Gives your tuner a stable signal to calibrate against.
  • Designed and made in Australia by Mr Module.

Installation

Unplug the factory VNT actuator connector, plug the simulator in, secure it away from heat. Five minutes. Full step-by-step guide from Mr Module: KUN26 VNT Simulator Instructions (PDF).

ECU remap required. The simulator stops the codes. It does not tune the engine. Boost, fuelling and rail pressure for a wastegated turbo still need a proper calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I need a VNT simulator?

A: Unplugging or removing the factory VNT actuator on a 1KD triggers a fault code and limp mode. The simulator emulates the actuator signal so the ECU is satisfied.

Q: Do I still need a tune?

A: Yes. The module only deals with the actuator signal. A wastegated turbo needs an ECU remap to run safely.

Q: Is it hard to fit?

A: No. It plugs into the factory actuator connector. No rewiring.

Q: Does it work with the PKS, F44, F46, F55 and R77 turbos?

A: Yes. It works with any wastegated turbo on the 1KD, because it only replaces the VNT actuator signal.

Q: Which vehicles?

A: Toyota Hilux N70 (KUN16 and KUN26, 2005 to 2015) and Prado 120 (KDJ120, 11/2006 to 10/2009) with the 1KD-FTV.

Delete the Actuator. Keep the ECU Happy.
